History has shown us that the people who made the most money
during the gold rush were NOT the Gold Miners,
but the entrepreneurs who were selling
the picks and spades.
Karen is a mature graduate with extensive administrative and customer liaison experience covering all aspects of customer relations, who is adaptable, and always aims to achieve required objectives through both traditional and innovative methods.
The counselling skills that I gained from the Introduction To Counselling
course, which I completed at Colchester Institute, help me to be more empathic towards
others. I believe that I have the ability to communicate well with my peers as well as my
superiors. I have excellent organisational and time management skills, and am highly
adaptable in a working environment.
I have accumulated a lot of hands-on experience of working with people of all ages and abilities.
For five years I was voluntary membership secretary at a local swimming club for
physically and mentally handicapped adults and children, which was hugely insightful.
For twenty weeks, while my children were young, I attended a Pre-school Playgroup Course
involving a study of children, group behaviour and communication. I also spent four years as a voluntary
member of the Customer Forum at a local leisure centre, which involved interactions between management, staff
and customers. While studying for my sociology degree at The University of Essex,
I worked as a volunteer in the Student Union Advice Centre. The work involved
talking to a culturally diverse range of young people about a wide range
of personal and academic topics.
